Scripture: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8
Change is hard. Even when it’s expected, transitions can bring uncertainty, fear, and discomfort. I remember the transition from pastoring to becoming a chaplain, first in a college campus setting, and then in county jail. I knew God was leading me into a new season, but that didn’t mean it was easy. I wrestled with doubts—was I making the right decision? Would I be effective? Would I still be able to impact lives the way I had before?
Life transitions—whether it’s a new job, a move, marriage, parenthood, or even stepping into a calling—often shake our sense of stability. But in those moments, I’ve learned to anchor myself in the unchanging nature of God. His character, His promises, and His love remain steady, even when everything around me shifts.
Joshua experienced this when he took over leadership after Moses. I can imagine the weight of responsibility pressing on him. But God’s words to him were clear: “As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Joshua 1:5). The same God who guided Moses would guide Joshua. And the same God who has been faithful in our past will be faithful in our future.
If you’re facing a transition right now, take comfort in knowing that even when everything changes, God does not. He is the solid foundation in every shifting season.
Reflection Question: How can you remind yourself of God’s unchanging presence in the midst of life’s transitions?
Prayer: Lord, change is hard, but You are constant. In every transition, remind me that You go before me and walk with me. Help me trust Your guidance and rest in Your unchanging presence. Amen.
Anchor myself in the unchanging character of God! That is so powerful and full of peace!
